Join the @EcoOutfitters #SolarChat team and @SEIA to share observations and commentary on the State of the Union address to be held on Tuesday, February 12th.
We'll gear up about 15 minutes prior to President Obama's start to discuss predictions and hopes for what you'd like to hear about solar energy, climate change, and the nation's eco-stance. Then, lead by #SolarChat founder Raina Russo (@EcoOutfitters), along with @SEIA President and CEO @RhoneResch; @TomKimbis, VP Strategy & External Affairs at SEIAl and Stephen Lacey (@Stphn_Lacey), senior editor of Greentech Media; and Frank Sesno (@franksesno), director of @SMPAGWU and @PlanetForward and former CNN bureau chief, we'll continue the exchange of reactions, feedback, and insight in real-time.
In his role as president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), Rhone Resch leads the representation of an industry of over 5,000 companies and 100,000 employees. A self-proclaimed political junkie, Rhone has more than 20 years of experience in the public and private sector working on clean energy development and climate change issues. In addition to serving as the Vice President for the Natural Gas Supply Association, Rhone also served as Program Manager at the EPA's Climate Protection Division during the Clinton administration.
As Vice President of Strategy & External Affairs for SEIA, Tom Kimbis oversees the departments of Communications, External Affairs, Membership, and Research. He also provides legal services to SEIA as General Counsel. Tom has been working in renewable energy since 2000, when he began supporting research, analysis, legislative, and planning efforts across all energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Prior to his work in solar, Tom headed a DOE legislative team, founded a real estate investment firm, and practiced litigation for a multinational law firm. Tom currently serves as Chairman of The Solar Foundation, a nonprofit promoting the increased use of solar energy through education and research.
As senior editor at Greentech Media focuses on the energy efficiency market. Stephen Lacey has extensive experience reporting on the business and politics of cleantech. He was formerly Deputy Editor of Climate Progress, a climate and energy blog based at the Center for American Progress. He was also an editor/producer with Renewable Energy World.
In addition to being an award-winning CNN correspondent, anchor, and Washington bureau chief, Frank Sesno is director of the School of Media and Public Affairs at The George Washington University, where he also serves as Professor of Media and Public Affairs. He is also the creator and host of Planet Forward, a web-to-television show on PBS.
For those new to Twitter, a hashtag (#) is an easy way to find and follow people who are tweeting about a certain topic. #SolarChat, founded by EcoOutfitters.net's Raina Russo, has a simple mission: Curious consumers, energy experts, and installation professionals can tune into Twitter at the designated chat time to share advice and resources, weigh in on discussion topics, pose questions or concerns, and work together to advance solar awareness.
#SolarChat is held on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month from 2:00-3:00 p.m. EST, with special sessions held periodically. See EcoOutfitters.net for more information.
